The 2026 Hay Market
Hay markets continue to reflect a combination of weather, regional production, forage quality and demand.
A July 2026 forage market report noted that new-crop volume was increasing, while quality remained strong in areas where timely moisture supported regrowth. At the same time, lighter yields in some regions continued to create a more cautious outlook.
That variability is a reminder that hay isn’t a one-size-fits-all commodity. Location, forage type and quality can all make a difference.
